Where the Heart is

How do we know who we are? Is it our body that defines us? Our soul? Our sexuality? Our family? The love we feel? Everything we feel?

As Durkheim says “our capacity for feeling is in itself a insatiable and bottomless abyss…” so maybe the way we manifest those feelings form our true identity.

We are all our stories, our life experiences has made us who we are, who I am right here standing (well writing on the screen that is) in front of you. Embrace yourself. Let your body express itself for what it is, not what society wants it to be. Find yourself, but don’t be afraid to get lost either. There are wonderful experiences to be had in exploring uncharted territory. So go lose yourself.

“We are socialized to confirm our own hypotheses about our natures.” -Erving Goffman
